Hi! I’m Rachna!
Nice to Meet You
My Mission
I’m Rachna and I am the founder of Empathetic Tutor.
Every day students fall behind in school and lose faith in themselves. I’m here to make these daunting subjects more accessible for every student.
I have helped students make mind-blowing transformations in my 12+ years of teaching and tutoring. By giving students the extra time, care, attention, and compassion they need, I have seen students thrive!
My mission is to help as many students as possible make these unbelievable transformations.
Teaching Philosophy
I believe that every child is intelligent and capable of learning difficult material. I love students asking questions, engaging with math and chemistry, and using their critical thinking skills. My two major goals with every student I meet is to break down difficult material according to their specific needs and to imbue them with the confidence they need to succeed. There is NO SUCH THING as a bad student or a dumb question in my classroom.
Learning Disabilities
I will accept any student regardless of their unique challenges. Personally, I was diagnosed with ADHD and General Anxiety Disorder in 2019. I get what its like. I bring this personal experience to the table with every student I teach because I never want anyone to feel alone. I am very good at holding the attention of inattentive students, calming down test anxiety, and giving students the space to be themselves while they learn.
Educational Background
I received my Bachelor's of Science in Chemistry with honors in 2019 from Lafayette College. I am completing my Master’s of Science in Chemistry from University of Cincinnati at the end of this year and currently working on my second Master's of Science in Cosmetic Science. I won the Thomas B Cameron award for teaching excellence from the University of Cincinnati and the American Chemical Society Division of Inorganic Chemistry Award.
Teaching Experience
Since 2013 I have taught Language Arts (K-5), Math (K-College, up through Calc III), Science (K-8), Chemistry (high school, AP, college, organic, and inorganic)! I love teaching a variety of subjects so I can meet students at their own level. I teach all students Kindergarten+. I have taught each of these subjects 1-on-1, in small groups of 2-6 students! I have taught general and organic chemistry to groups of 20-30 students and in groups of 100+ students!
