FAQ

  • What do you mean by "empathy"?

Empathy involves being able to understand the feelings of others. In other words, being able to put yourself in someone else’s shoes. I take the time to learn what a student is doing AND why they’re doing it. For example, a student not doing their math homework could seem like insubordination. However, if the student was really suffering from a fear of failure then working through their perfectionism would help them to feel better and turn in more assignments.

  • Why do you celebrate accomplishments?

So many students and adults don’t feel that their contributions have intrinsic value which is something I want to combat! Whether a student completes a homework assignment, did well on a test, or merely walked into their math class with less stress, I want them to understand that any progress deserves to be celebrated!

  • Do you accept students with learning disabilities?

100% Yes!!! I accept all students regardless of any personal struggles they may have! I will work my absolute hardest to make sure I meet everyone’s unique needs. Personally, I was diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 22. I completely understand how difficult schoolwork can be with a learning disability! I’m very good at maintaining the attention of the inattentive.

  • Will you teach physics or biology?

No! I strive to provide top tier level tutoring services and hold myself to a very high standard. I do not have enough mastery in physics nor biology to provide services in those subjects that meet my own standards. I will only tutor math and chemistry.

  • Can you make sure my student gets an A?

I vow to work with every student so they can perform at their best. However, I absolutely cannot guarantee any particular grade, test score, AP score, etc. Uncertainty is difficult and we can work on appeasing some of that anxiety while we work on the class material!

  • Should I get a subscription?

I recommend subscriptions for anyone looking to get a consistent amount of tutoring per week! It will let me work with a student regularly to stay on top of homework and classwork. Furthermore, I can learn the student’s schedule this way and help them keep track of deadlines and upcoming projects!

  • Can you help diagnose my child with ADHD?

No! I am not qualified to make any diagnoses, recommend treatments, nor medicate ADHD or any other physical or mental health conditions. I am a tutor, not a doctor.

I will however share personal anecdotes of my own experiences in school with ADHD and anxiety! Including organizational tips and study techniques that work for innattention.

  • What is your lateness policy?

I get it, being late can happen! I build a 10-minute buffer period for every student. You are guaranteed to get your full session time if you are under 10 minutes late. After 10 minutes I will absolutely still see you but cannot guarantee you will get your full time. In other words, if you arrive at 5:05 for a 1-hour 5:00 session, we will go until 6:05! If you show up at 5:15, we’ll go until 6:10.

  • Why do you only tutor remotely?

Remote tutoring allows me to spend time outside of each lesson preparing resources, crafting homework, and planning lessons tailored to each student instead of driving between lessons. It also allows me to reach and help students that are several hours away from me as opposed to only those in my backyard!
